Maruti Suzuki free service schedule
Every current Maruti Suzuki ARENA car follows the same plan: three free inspections in the first year, then a paid service every 10,000 km or 12 months. Here it is in one place, with each model's engine oil and the extra items for S-CNG — from Maruti's own owner's manuals.

The plan every ARENA Maruti follows
| Service | Due at (whichever comes first) | What you pay |
|---|---|---|
| 1st free inspection | 1,000 km or 1 month | Materials only, if any |
| 2nd free inspection | 5,000 km or 6 months | Materials only, if any |
| 3rd free inspection — first oil change | 10,000 km or 12 months | Oil, filter and materials |
| First paid service | 20,000 km or 24 months | Labour and parts |
| After that | Every 10,000 km or 12 months | Labour and parts |
Checked against Maruti Suzuki's current ARENA owner's manuals (2025–2026): Swift, Dzire, WagonR, Celerio, Brezza, Ertiga and S-Presso all print the same "free inspection" columns at 1,000, 5,000 and 10,000 km, and "periodic maintenance at cost" from 20,000 km. The manuals say the cost of materials and consumables at the free inspections is borne by the owner.
Miss the window — say you reach 12 months at only 6,000 km — and the date decides: the third free inspection is due at 12 months. After 24 months, servicing is at cost however few km the car has done.
Engine oil by model
| Model | Engine | Oil | Quantity (with filter) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Swift | 1.2 Z12E | 0W-16 | about 3.1 L |
| Dzire | 1.2 Z12E | 0W-16 | about 3.1 L |
| WagonR | 1.0 K10C / 1.2 K12N | 0W-16 | about 2.8 L / 3.7 L |
| Celerio | 1.0 K10C | 0W-16 (API SN) | about 2.8 L |
| S-Presso | 1.0 K10C | 0W-16 | about 2.8 L |
| Brezza | 1.5 K15C / 1.0 turbo | 0W-16 / 5W-30 | about 3.3 L / 2.9 L |
| Ertiga | 1.5 K15C | 0W-16 | about 3.3 L |
0W-16 is a very thin oil, chosen for these engines' fuel economy. If a workshop offers a thicker "better" oil, ask why — Maruti's manuals specify 0W-16 for the petrol engines above. Older Marutis with earlier engines use other grades: the one in your manual wins.
S-CNG: what's extra
| Item | When |
|---|---|
| Gas leak check at all joints | Every service |
| CNG low-pressure filter cartridge | Every 20,000 km or 24 months |
| CNG filler O-ring | Every 4 years or 3,00,000 km |
| Cylinder test and certification | Every 3 years, at a government-approved testing station; scrapped at 20 years |
The engine oil interval doesn't change on CNG. The Dzire's CNG supplement, for example, also asks you to run 5–10 km on petrol after every 300–500 km on CNG and keep at least 5 litres of petrol in the tank — see the Dzire page.
Before you go for a Maruti service
- Book by date, not just km. A car driven 20 km a day reaches the 12-month inspection at about 7,000 km.
- Carry the service booklet (or know your registration number) so the free inspection is recorded against your car.
- Ask for the bill itemised — at the free inspections only materials should be charged.
- Keep the bill. A full service record helps when you sell, and settles warranty questions.
Track your Maruti's services
Add your Maruti to MotorBabu by its number plate — it picks up the model and your insurance and PUC dates, and reminds you before each service by km or date. Snap the service bill and it fills in what was done. For one item at a time, use the service due calculator.
Questions people ask
How many free services does a Maruti Suzuki car get?
Three free inspections, in every current ARENA owner's manual we checked (Swift, Dzire, WagonR, Celerio, Brezza, Ertiga, S-Presso): at 1,000 km or 1 month, 5,000 km or 6 months, and 10,000 km or 12 months, whichever comes first.
Are Maruti's free services completely free?
The labour is. Maruti's manuals say the cost of materials and consumables is borne by the owner — so at the third free inspection, where the first oil change happens, you pay for the oil and filter.
When does paid servicing start on a Maruti?
At 20,000 km or 24 months, whichever comes first. After that, every 10,000 km or 12 months.
How often is the engine oil changed on a Maruti?
First at 10,000 km or 12 months, then every 10,000 km or 12 months, with the oil filter. Maruti's manuals give no shorter 'severe use' oil interval for these cars.
Which engine oil does a Maruti take?
Current petrol models take SAE 0W-16 (API SN/SP or ILSAC GF-6; the Celerio's manual lists API SN). The quantity depends on the engine: about 2.8 L for the 1.0 K10C (WagonR, Celerio, S-Presso), 3.1 L for the 1.2 Z12E (Swift, Dzire), 3.7 L for the 1.2 K12N (WagonR 1.2) and 3.3 L for the 1.5 K15C (Brezza, Ertiga). The Brezza 1.0 turbo takes 5W-30, about 2.9 L.
Does a Maruti CNG car need extra servicing?
The oil interval stays the same. On top: a gas-leak check at every service, the CNG low-pressure filter every 20,000 km or 24 months, the filler O-ring every 4 years or 3,00,000 km, and the cylinder tested every 3 years at a government-approved station (scrapped at 20 years).
How much does a Maruti service cost?
Maruti doesn't publish fixed prices — the bill depends on the model, what's replaced and labour at your workshop. Its website has a service cost calculator (it asks you to sign in). The free inspections cost only the materials used.
Does this apply to NEXA models like the Baleno or Fronx?
We've only checked ARENA models' manuals. NEXA cars (Baleno, Fronx, Grand Vitara, XL6 and others) have their own manuals — check the free-service table in yours.
